Be it through poetry or painting, my work speaks to the world of colorful emotion. Most of what I do relates to the common experiences that bind us all together. Relationship, growth, and change can all be found within my images and poems. Color attracts me. I sometimes use vibrant color, sometimes subdued color to convey what I am feeling about the world. I may never tell you my thoughts. You only have to read my poem or view my painting to know me better.
Long intrigued with relationships and nature, I use my keen observations to shape my poetry. As a former teacher, my past is filled with generating written materials for classroom use and honing my editing skills. Throughout the years, I have hosted many a poetry group meeting at my house. Most recently I joined the Frenchman’s Bay Poetry Group in Sullivan, ME. I am a true Mainer who has been a regular at open- mic events in the Downeast corridor.

Dance Smartly
Now and then, there are times
When this life we lead
Demands of us that we
Maneuver through times of strife.
Using what we’ve learned in
This life we’ve led,
We’re surprised when instead,
A situation appears that demands we start again.
Old ways no longer prove right.
Caught off balance, without a plan
Perhaps too proud to seek a fellow hand
We forget the world is not only black and white.
From the studio, a hand waves heartily
Its heart beats with the rhythm of dance
Advice gained by experience, not by chance.
It relays come what may: dance smartly.
